For this project we had to design a promotion strategy for the UJ Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture’s student year-end exhibition. 

The strategy had to be a poster or any other relevant media, show the creative nature of the faculty, work for the diverse target audience.

SOLUTION

A combination of “Kasi” language and the tools used by FADA students to produce the excellent art and design work that will be exhibited.

“KASI” LANGUAGE 

“Kasi” language is a common laguage in the johannesburg area made up by combining most of the South African languages. For this project, I used the words, “ Eksé, woz’ uzo bona eFADA s’khipani”. Here I combined the Afrikaans word “Eksé” ,which directly translates to “I say” but is used as a greeting in “Kasi” language, with the zulu sentence, “woz’ uzo bona eFADA s’khipani” which means come and see what’s happening in FADA.

TOOLS 

To show this I took a picture of my paintbrush bag with the brushes and other tools usually used by Art and Design students in it and used it as the main image in my poster, invitation and social media banners.
