Happy Feet is a hiking club currently operating in Rustenburg and Venda.  The club was founded by Tiisetso Teeke, who believes that "Hiking and happiness go hand in hand or foot in boot". Needless to say, my job was to encapsulate that.

Girl Scout badges and the smile-like crease that is formed when the shoe is bent inspired this design. However, I didn't use the front part of the shoe (with the actual crease) because, in a hiking scenario, the most visible and active part of the shoe is the sole.

Therefore, I incorporated a hiking scene into the sole but kept a bit of the shoe's upper with line work that emphasises the creases. We chose warm, bright colours to depict happiness but cooled it off with a turquoise to show the serenity that comes with being one with nature.
